Clarice had a difficult assignment from the FBI to look into the brain of Anthony Hopkins, Dr. Hannibal Lecter) The Human Stain" 03, who was a mental patient and had some very valuable information the FBI needed in order to capture a horrible killer. The acting by Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins were outstanding in making this a 'Thrill-A- Diller' of a film story.

Anthony Hopkins' portrayal of a sociopath is simply chilling.
Having met a real sociopath at a chance encounter, I would give Anthony Hopkins an 8.
Real sociopaths are a lot more dramatic and theatrical. They have an inflated ego and enjoy being in control. Fear is never an option and they take delight in manipulation.
Anthony's character is everything about a real sociopath minus the theatrics. Instead he delivers subtlety and leaves the audience wanting more of this menacing character.

This film could not benefit any more from the amazing acting of Sir Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal 'the Cannibal' Lecter. He's so calm, collected and slightly likeable that he will scare you. I didn't think he had done until I had a nightmare that night dreaming he was by my bed repeating my name in the same hushed voice used when saying "Clarice. I can't think of anyone better suited for the role. Watch out for the part after he's killed two security guards. Standing with blood spattered over his face, his hands, his body he calmly turns on his classical music. Amazing. Jodie Foster is also good as the trainee FBI agent. The exchanges between her and Lecter are the main basis of the film and the most creepy. A brilliant film and I'm glad to see Hopkins will be reprising his role for 'Hannibal.
